business briefs Nova to provide Houston artics BAUER'S IT ADDS 31 SETRAS Over the course of 2012, San Francisco's Bauer's IT (Intelligent Transportation) added 25 Setra S 407 coaches for its new LAX FlyAway service. The operation also took delivery of six new Setra S 417 models from MCI for corporate commuter and charter service. INIT OPENS OFFICE IN SINGAPORE INIT took a major step into the Asian market by establishing its latest subsidiary in Singapore. INIT Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd. will serve as the INIT group's headquarters for the Asia-Pacific area giving the company the ability to focus on the specific needs of the public transport industry in the region. Nova Bus will deliver 70 articulated buses to Houston-based Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (Metro) over the next year. The order is valued at approximately $48 million. Metro's new high-capacity buses will be used to renew its bus fleet and will be put into regular service. The articulated vehicles will be able to carry up to 112 passengers along any city streets, thanks to their similar maneuverability to 40-foot buses. The order will be assembled at Nova Bus' plant in Plattsburgh, N.Y. PB TO PROVIDE MICH. ALT. ANALYSIS The Southeastern Council of Governments awarded a contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff to perform an alternatives analysis (AA) for the Woodward Avenue rapid transit project. The AA will review rapid transit options for a 30-mile corridor along Woodward Avenue from Detroit to Pontiac, Mich. The project will be completed in early 2014.
