NOVA WINS QUEBEC HYBRID ORDER Nova Bus received an order for 475 Nova LFS HEV hybrid buses from ATUQ, a consortium consisting of Quebec's nine transit authorities. This is the single largest order for hybrid vehicles that the Volvo Group has ever signed to date. The buses are scheduled for delivery at the beginning of 2014. The order also encompasses an option for a further 1,200 vehicles. CLEAREDGE ACQUIRES UTC POWER ClearEdge Power, a manufacturer of scalable, distributed power systems, closed on its acquisition of UTC Power, marking a major milestone for the company and strengthening its position in the commercial fuel-cell industry. UTC Power, formerly a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., has long been considered a leader in fuel-cell systems. to the Volvo Group, made a strategic investment in DriveCam Inc. Through the investment, Volvo Group becomes a minority shareholder in the company. Transaction terms were not disclosed. STERTIL-KONI DELIVERS TEXAS LIFTS Stertil-Koni, a supplier of heavy-duty vehicle lifts, was awarded a contract from El Paso, Texas-based Sun Metro, to produce and install 18 high-capacity, heavy-duty vehicle lifts. Sun Metro ordered two models of the ECOLIFT and two models of SKYLIFT. CUBIC ACQUIRES NEXTBUS Cubic Transportation Systems acquired NextBus Inc. from Webtech Wireless Inc. The acquisition broadens Cubic's portfolio of transportation solutions. NextBus' customers include major metro systems as well as many well-known small and mid-sized transit agencies and universities. VOLVO INVESTS IN DRIVECAM INC. Volvo Group Venture Capital, a subsidiary ROUTEMATCH WINS N.D. CONTRACT RouteMatch Software will roll out its intelligent transportation system to 39 North Dakota Department of Transportation transit systems. The transit systems will receive RouteMatch's core scheduling, dispatching, route optimization module and tablet mobile data devices for automated vehicle location, reducing paper, and improving driver and dispatcher communications. TRAPEZE ACQUIRES MENTOR ASSETS Volaris Group announced its wholly owned subsidiary, Trapeze Group, signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire Mentor Engineering Inc. Mentor provides fleet management hardware and mobile workforce management solutions as well as an easy to use fixed-route intelligent transportation solution for smaller transportation agencies.
