business briefs New Flyer acquires Orion aftermarket business KANSAS OPERATOR ADDS TEMSA Wichita, Kan.-based Village Charters Inc. dba Village Tours and Travel, added a new Temsa TS35 coach from CH Bus Sales to its fleet. The TS35 coaches are equipped with a Cummins ISL 345 engine, Allison B500 transmission and three-point seat belts. The Village Tours & Travel coach is also equipped with REI audio/video, Alcoa rims, auxiliary heater and 110-volt outlets. New Flyer Industries Inc. acquired certain assets from Daimler Buses North America relating to its Orion aftermarket parts business for heavy-duty transit buses. The purchase price for the assets was approximately $29 million, which was funded by using proceeds from the recently announced equity investment by Marcopolo S.A. This includes an estimated $6.5 million for the purchase of accounts receivable, and is subject to post-closing adjustments for working capital that are normal and customary for these types of transactions. DART TAPS STREETCAR SUPPLIER Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Brookville Equipment Corp. agreed to terms for the supply of two of-wire capable Liberty Modern Streetcars to the downtown Union Station to Oak Clif extension project, with an option for two additional streetcars.
