In leading the planning for this year's Expo, Wharton aimed to expand be- yond APTA's traditional lineup of prod- ucts, services, technologies and show- cases, and provide a new dimension to and experience of public transporta- tion, he says. All facets of the public transportation in- dustry are set to gather once again at the American Public Transportation As- sociation's (APTA) triennial EXPO, tak- ing place in Houston Oct. 12 to 15 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Tis year's EXPO will feature more than 750 global exhibitors displaying the lat- est products, services and technologies, with the EXPO set to offer attendees a peek at more than 60 buses and at least two mockup railcars. With its theme "Powering Possibili- ties," the 2014 EXPO will ofer attendees more resources than ever including 80- plus educational sessions as well as fo- rums, tours and networking events. Ad- ditionally, this year's Annual Meeting will be held in conjunc- tion with Expo 2014. "EXPO, truly pub- lic transp or tation's p re m i e r s h o w c a s e, i s a l l a b o u t p o w e r- ing possibilities and puts attendees at the core of the pub- lic transportation industry," says APTA President/CEO Michael Melaniphy. "Just as the transit industry continues to grow and evolve, so too does EXPO. Be- lieve it or not, 2014 attendees will experi- ence a trade show foor that bests EXPO 2008 by nearly 50 additional exhibitors."
