metro news briefs CALIF.'S OMNITRANS CNG BUSES REACH 100 MILLION MILES San Bernardino, Calif.-based Omnitrans buses will surpass the 100 million-mile mark in compressed natural gas (CNG) miles traveled this April. Omnitrans, which received its first CNG bus in 1997, led the way in the transition from diesel fuel to CNG, adopting the clean fuel technology years before local regulations mandated the switch for transit fleets. Te frst phase of the $1.6 billion project connects with Terminal 4 — which handles 80% of Sky Harbor's passengers — and includes stops at an economy parking lot and a Metro light rail station.
