Many of APTA's developer and archi- tect business members will have booths both on the main foor and in the plaza addressing sustainability and livability, Wharton says. He adds the idea for the additional ex- hibit hall came into being after the 2011 Expo in New Orleans as the committee reviewed the unique three-story layout of the convention center and considered what to do with open foor space on the third level. APTA will continue, as with the 2011 EXPO in New Orleans, a business-to- business e vent that op ens the flo or specifically to exhibitors for network- ing before being joined by the gener- al public as well as a photo contest on Facebook. APTA hopes to attract not only CEOs from transit agencies but procurement and operations and maintenance groups. "That's where the business is con- ducted: the people on the front lines that see the needs and can learn from all the new product innovations and technolo- gies out there," Wharton says. "We're fo- cused on being able to match business members with customers and the mu- tual success of all parties … this will be so much more than just a transit show." "Te energy and excitement through- out EXPO 2014 will be palpable," adds Melaniphy. "[Attendees] will come away with a real sense of the global nature of our industry."
